The Temple of Heaven is well-known to Orlando-area residents, or the ones who frequent Epcot, anyway. It’s the temple that’s recreated in the China pavilion at the theme park. There’s no 360-degree movie in the real one, just a temple that people are not allowed to enter.

Still, it is an architectural marvel that has stood for centuries and was built without a single nail.

The other site is the Summer Palace.

The lakes and gardens are just as magnificent as the buildings at the park that predates the Qing Dynasty.

I’m posting a few pics hoping you’ll notice the air quality. They say that air pollution isn’t a problem in summertime, but there is a thick, filmy haze that seems to blanket the country. In 100-degree heat, it can be suffocating.

The palace also features one of the largest art collections in the world, it’s a long walkway with hand-painted scenes stretching the distance. We walked the length of the promenade and then took a dragon boat across the lake and back to the main entrance.

I’ll bet the Summer Palace is even more spectacular in the fall.
